Frances is a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner who struggled with not knowing enough to help the people she wanted to help. She now has both the knowledge and the confidence she was seeking, and she’s creating tremendous positive change in her community. Here’s the short interview we recently did with Frances where she shares her story.
FNL: What did you struggle with before taking FNL courses?
I struggled with not knowing enough. Although I had plenty of nutritional knowledge, I didn’t feel confident in my ability to handle difficult cases. I knew I had a lot of knowledge, but I also knew there was a lot that I didn’t know, and that kept me from practicing at the level I really wanted to practice at. I struggled from imposter syndrome and felt I needed more education.
FNL: How have you changed since FBS?
I now have the confidence that I will know what to do. I trust myself. And I also know that it’s ok to not know everything. I am more comfortable working with complex cases and definitely feel stronger when talking with doctors and other health care professionals. FBS has given me a solid foundation to learn and grow from.
FNL: How has your practice changed?
I have more clients and I feel good about my fees. When speaking at local venues, I have more confidence and I am proud of my ability to convey the intricacies of where food meets physiology in the body.
FNL: What changes have you seen in your clients?
My clients are more plugged in to their health. They ask more questions, are excited about what they are learning, and they feel good about their health journey.
FNL: Please share something specific that you’ve done to grow your practice or attract more clients.
I have given public talks that have generated both clients and a position as the Residential Nutritionist for Bayside Marin, which is a premier recovery center. It’s been amazing! I am now collaborating with sister recovery centers on the importance of nutrition for sustainable sobriety. And I have recently been asked to do a wellness program for the staff as well.
FNL: Do you have a success that you’d like to share?
Since being at Bayside Marin where I do monthly lectures and one-to-one nutritional counseling with the clients, I have received numerous testimonials on how much better they feel. Many have expressed gratitude to me for sharing information in an easy-to-understand way. Thank you Andrea for being SUCH an excellent teacher and example of how to explain the complexities of the our most precious possession ~ our body!
